How Intel and Mobileye Are Impacting the Future of Transportation

car electronics parts

Intel purchased Mobileye in 2017 and they are working towards the development and deployment of driver-assist and autonomous driving technology. Their innovations include computer chip and software as well collision avoidance technology. MobilEye's Riad self-driving vehicle prototype was created. Intel plans on using the technology in its own vehicles. These technologies will revolutionize transportation. Continue reading to find more.

Intel acquired Mobileye 2017

Intel recently bought Mobileye. Mobileye specializes digital vision technology which is crucial for self-driving cars. The acquisition bolsters Intel's efforts to expand its portfolio beyond chips and data centers to include services for autonomous vehicles. Intel also hopes this acquisition will be attractive to automakers with limited in-house expertise in autonomous vehicles, who rely on Google or other companies for these services.

Mobileye acquires software to enable autonomous vehicles. EyeQ, a system-on chip that processes vision without compromising performance, is called a system-onchip. Mobileye has already signed deals with 27 carmakers. Mobileye's capabilities will now extend beyond automobiles to a wider range industries. Mobileye's acquisition by Intel will allow the company to grow its product portfolio while focusing on business-to-business applications.

MobilEye can be used to avoid collisions

Mobileye, a major manufacturer of collision avoidance system, employs a sophisticated vision detector to detect threats. It continuously monitors distances and relative speeds to determine the danger of collision. Mobileye's collision avoidance technology has been chosen by leading automotive manufacturers. Here are some benefits of the MobilEye system. Let us explore why it's so important.

This unique technology combines artificial Intelligence with telematics in order to alert drivers about possible collisions. It continuously scans for potential hazards on the road ahead and warns drivers if it sees cyclists or pedestrians. It then alerts drivers via audio-visual warnings to avoid an accident. It can work in any weather condition, including nighttime. Drivers don't need to rely on their car's engine to predict what the future holds. This technology detects obstacles in real time.

EyeQ, a custom accelerator processor chips

The EyeQ family of system-on-chips from Mobileye provides processing power for ADAS functions. They are compatible with single and double-camera sensors. They also support semi-autonomous and fully autonomous driving. They can process Lidars and radars as well as surround cameras. EyeQ processors are manufactured using TSMC technology. The latest operating systems are supported by the EyeQ processors, including Windows 10.

Mobileye's EyeQ represents its technological leadership. EyeQ's scalable and high-performance accelerator architecture is capable of providing state-of the-art computer vision performance. EyeQ Ultra, which will include EyeQ6L & EyeQ6H, will be automotive-grade by 2025. Its innovative architecture will lead to a new generation of mobility, as well as a greater level of safety.

Riad is a self-driving prototype built by MobilEye

MobilEye’s prototype is a far cry than the autonomous vehicles that are now available in many cities all over the world. This technology requires that the driver actively participates in many aspects. But the company has built up a prototype of its own that can navigate challenging environments with little to no human input. It also works well with pedestrians.

The company will build an entire autonomous stack, and each component will be tested before being combined. By the end of 2022, a commercial fleet will be available in three major cities. The prototype self driving vehicle from the company can travel safely over four million miles per year. It can also detect pedestrians and make adjustments to its course accordingly.

FAQ

What qualifications are necessary to become a truck driver mechanic?

You don't have formal qualifications for this role, but you are very experienced working on trucks and engines. Your knowledge is valuable as you are able to quickly diagnose problems and work efficiently.

Your knowledge of diesel technology will allow you to identify the parts that are required to fix our vehicles.

What is the difference?

Both are related, but they are not the same. A mechanic repairs cars while an automotive technician does maintenance on them.

A mechanic must be skilled in manual dexterity and able to complete simple tasks quickly. A mechanic should also be able accurately diagnose and repair problems.

An automotive technician requires more technical skills than a mechanic. They should be able read blueprints and use tools like drills and wrenches.

They should also be capable of safely performing complex procedures. They should also be familiarized with the different types of engines as well as electrical systems.

They should also be able understand how different parts interact.

This means that mechanics usually make less money than automotive technicians. Both jobs offer many possibilities.

To be a car mechanic, do you need a degree? Can I study part-time?

A degree isn't necessary, but it certainly helps. Most employers prefer candidates who have studied for a full degree rather than those who haven't. It shows you are dedicated and have worked hard to achieve your goals.

However, it doesn't mean you can't still work while studying. Some universities permit students to do coursework during summer holidays and complete their studies later in a year. Some universities allow students to take part-time classes throughout the year.

Statistics

  • According to the BLS, total auto technician employment is expected to exceed 705,000 by 2030. (uti.edu)
  • Apprentice mechanics earn significantly less hourly than mechanics who have completed training, with a median wage of approximately $14.50 an hour, according to PayScale. (jobhero.com)
  • According to the BLS, the median annual salary for automotive service technicians and mechanics in the United States was $44,050 in May 2020. (uti.edu)

How To

How to be an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician performs repairs and maintains vehicles. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. He/she assists customers in fixing their cars, trucks or motorcycles. A technician in automotive must be able diagnose and repair problems quickly, safely, accurately, efficiently, and effectively.

A person who wants to work as an automotive technician should first obtain an associate degree from a vocational school. After completing the program, he/she must take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certification exam. ASE stands as American Society of Mechanical Engineers. There are two sections to the ASE certification test. The first section tests for mechanical knowledge, the second for practical skills. To pass the test you must go to one of the authorized testing facilities. You can find these locations online or through your local automobile dealer.

Before becoming an automotive technician, a candidate must pass the test. This process is different depending on where you live. Some states require that candidates attend training courses, while others permit them to learn independently. Some states require technicians to be licensed immediately upon receiving their license. Other states wait until they have been employed as automotive technicians for at least six month.

Apply to your local dealership to become an automotive technician. Once hired, most new employees start out working as apprentices. Apprenticeships typically last three years. A student will learn to repair basic things like changing oil, adjusting brakes or replacing tires. They also learn how spark plugs are cleaned and inspect engine compartments. Some students learn how to do advanced repairs, such as installing air filters, replacing shocks, repairing engines, and replacing transmission fluids. Most schools offer classes during regular business hours. However, there are some schools that offer evening classes for those who need them.

When a student has completed his/her apprenticeship, they become a journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. You will also learn how to repair complicated electrical components, as well as how to remanufacture engines and rebuild transmissions. Employers prefer to hire journeymen as they are familiar with the job and can anticipate customer needs.

A candidate who passes all the necessary exams and gets a license might be interested in opening his/her own business. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were almost 1.7 million available jobs in the automotive mechanic field in 2010. That number was expected to grow by 18 percent from 2009 to 2020. A candidate who plans to open a shop should expect to spend many thousands of dollars on equipment and supplies.

The salary of an automotive technician will depend on many factors including where you live, your education level, experience and the type of employer. On average, a jobless person could expect to earn $20,000 annually. A high school diploma is all that's required to earn approximately $21,000 annually. Associate's degrees earn approximately $24,000 per annum. Technicians with a bachelor's degree earn about $27,000 per annum. Master's degree holders make around $32,000 annually. Salary increases are common, so a professional who earns less than $30,000 now could reasonably expect to earn $40,000 or more in just a few years.
